Scroll of Efficiency can make smithing less expensive

RuneScape players with 20,000 Dungeoneering tokens to spare can use them to save money when training smithing by purchasing Scroll of Efficiency. Requiring level 55 in both Dungeoneering and Smithing, Scroll of Efficiency is consumed on use granting a permanent chance of saving bars while smithing items using three or more bars.

RuneScape players will see the following chances of saving a bar:

50% bronze
25% iron
20% steel
10% mithril
  8% adamant
  5% runite

RuneScape players can profitably smith bronze when the item sells for half or more the cost of the materials. Smithing bronze for profit, however, is not recommended due to slow speed.

When smithing iron, iron platebodies are still a money drain but not as drastic of a drain. In a later post, I will explain why this waste product of smithing actually has a street value to RuneScape members! Because street trading involves acquiring the junk, junk is almost never obtained free but rather, is obtained for between 25% and 75% of its current value if merchanting an item. Junk may also be obtained when a RuneScape player seeks to buy an item held to have a higher value than its grand exchange price. Therefore, even when selling iron platebodies on the street, RuneScape players usually lose money. RuneScape players looking to flip junk, however, can use street trading iron platebodies to reduce the cost of training smithing.

For steel, mithril, adamant, and runite, RuneScape players expecting to lose a lot of money will see these losses reduced. RuneScape players will save one of every five steel bars, one of every ten mithril bars, one of every 12.5 adamant bars, and one of every 20 runite bars.

This only applies to items requiring 3+ bars, unfortunately.
