I like to blog once in a while because I can go off topic. This season's biggest loser has been a bit different than the last few seasons, and seems to have been scripted very well as it turned out. Brendan, Frado, and Patrick became the early villains and remained together until the last week. Players including Adam, Rick, Aaron, Jesse, and finally Mark, were all picked off. It is the perfect setup for Patrick or Frado now to win it all.
Frado, although he's not that bad a guy, his role now is the villain. Patrick lost his job and has two little boys so it's harder to see him as evil. They're not evil, just game players. However, game playing on the show has traditionally given the game players the role of villain.
It looks like between them, it should be easy for one of them to win it all. Ada does pose a threat, however.
I mentioned earlier Patrick with his situation; him winning would be a feel good story as would Frado because he overcame diabetes. But I doubt either of them win it. The reason is, this is not reality but reality TV. The "good guys" always have to win in the end.
Although I for a while thought it would be Ada (or Mark, whichever one made it past last week) who would win, I am starting to have second thoughts. Elizabeth has fallen below the yellow line what, eight out of ten times? Granted some of those yellow lines had seven or eight people below them, but still. She has always been the weak link, always struggling, yet she managed to make the final four. She most likely will fall below the yellow, but all she needs to ensure her spot in the final three is to make sure she doesn't fall below the yellow with Ada.
It's possible she may lose enough weight at home to seriously be a contender. Remember Ron from season 7? He was always putting low numbers, then when the final came he finished like second for the at-home prize. Although Ada winning would make a great story, after how she has been built up all season, imagine how much an inspiration it would be if Elizabeth won? Remember, Michelle beat the game in season 6, Helen won despite being twice the age of most contestants, Danny survived being the loner on a black team rigged by Tracey, and in season 9, Michael won despite starting out at 525 pounds and still having weight to lose at the finale. This is reality TV. To win on this show, one needs to be in the hero and good guy role, and have winning be a compelling, inspiring, emotional, and motivating story. And also be the only hero. Tara didn't win because there were two in season 7.
